Not Teething

Well, all of the teething that was going on last week, was not that at all. Brandon just got over a horrible fever blister at the beginning of last week when all of Dayton's fussiness began. When Dayton started drooling and had a sore mouth, we just assumed it was his teeth. On Wednesday, a small bump popped up under his bottom lip on his chin. We just thought it was a combination of using the paci w/ a moist chin b/c of the drool. On Thursday the one bump turned into about five bumps. By Friday he had a lot of nasty looking bumps on his chin, one on his top lip, one above his top lip and it was in his mouth. I took him to see Dr. Brian on Friday afternoon and his first question was does anyone in your family have a cold sore right now. And there you go - Dayton had contracted his Daddy's herpies complex - gross! The poor little man is having a very rough time getting over it. I can't say it's gotten much better. It has stopped spreading, but we've still got a few days of this ahead of us. I know a lot of you know how painful they are to get, so I can't imagine having one while being a baby! I have been stressed out over him and woke up this morning w/ a horrible stress/sinus headache. Brandon stayed home from work this morning to help take care of both of us. I am still feeling pretty crappy, but I've got to get moving because I have four hours of dancing this afternoon - yeehaw! Anyways, I'll let you know how Baby Date does, but right now he's not the happiest baby in the world!

Sick Boy - again!!!

Well, our little champ is under the weather yet again. The culprit - teeth!!!! Those darn teeth are giving him the hardest time. Every time they start to come through or grow, he has the hardest time with it. I know some kids are just like that, but poor little thing. You can just tell how sore his little gums are. He won't even eat on his snacks, which he normally loves. We went through the whole fever thing yesterday. Today he's just been really cross and not himself. I'll be glad when he has a full mouth of pearly whites. Teething sucks! We went through two t-shirts and three bibs today because he drools soooo much it gets everything wet. Yuck! I just feel so bad for the little guy. I wish I could do more besides drug him up and hold him. Can't wait till he can communicate and tell me exactly what hurts him. It is no fun not knowing what he wants/needs. Anyways, that's what we are dealing with right now. Hopefully by tomorrow he'll be a little more perky. We've just got to make it through another restless night. Brandon and I haven't been getting much sleep lately because he wakes up pretty often w/ the drooling problem and he seems to be really sore in the mouth. I'll write again when he's back to himself - pray for the little man! JZ

Saturday

Well, Saturday was a wonderful day - I got to go shopping w/o excess baggage (Dayton) for the first time in I don't know how long! Not that I don't love my little shopping buddy to pieces, but let me tell you, shopping with him can be quite exhausting!

Brandon decided to stay home with him and have a "boys day" watching the Barrett-Jackson auto auction all day, and he didn't have to tell me twice. Me and mom were off to Sugar Land around 8:30 in the morning and we didn't get back in town til 5:00.

First we went to Babies R Us where I got Dayton the most adorable bunny suit for Easter. I'm gonna be sending out Easter cards so you'll have to wait and see our cute little bunny. Brandon wanted to shoot me when he saw it - he swore his kid would not wear it, but after I tried it on Dayton, he fell in love w/ it too! So cute! After Babies R Us we went to Carter's and Old Navy and found some huge sales. Everyone knows how many clothes this little boy has but after about two weeks go by that I haven't bought him a new outfit, I start getting an itch and I hadn't bought him any new stuff since Christmas, so I couldn't resist so much stuff. I've already been taking pics of him in all his new clothes, so I'll send out some new pics. Uncle Clint- we got him a shirt that says "Babe Magnet" and he wore it last night out to eat w/ his Vans - OMG - what a lil' pimp!

Anyways, after that we went to Pei Wei and had lunch with Diana and Samantha. They were shopping, too. It was so delicious! We all headed over to the mall together and spent a long time shopping there. I found Dayton's birthday outfit (early, I know) but you guys know me! I am trying to be prepared. We picked up a few things here and there at the mall, but mostly all for Dayton. He's much more fun to dress than myself these days - he looks good in everything, I look good in nothing... We ended the trip by going to Target. I needed Turbo Tax and mom needed a new mix master. Samantha got some new bathing suits so I spent time picking some cute little string bikinis out for her knowing that I will never in my life be able to wear anything remotely close to that again unless it's in my own bathtub.

When I got home, I had missed the little guy. He was happy to see me for once. Usually he's used to being around me and happy to see Brandon when he gets home. We went and ate at Los Cucos and had some yummy margaritas w/ MeMe and Grandpa and then we headed to the Zabodyns for some Rock Band. Yes, guys, we are moving up from Guitar Hero to Rock Band. Sam got it yesterday so we were game! Wow - drums, guitars and singing. It was a blast. Now I want Rock Band. We need to get together for a Rock Band nite. It would be a blast.

Anyways, just enjoying my Sunday watching some football and car auctions. I've gotta go up to the civic center tonight to help with the Senior Serve talent show rehearsal - I swear, the things I get myself into...

New Year's Resolution...

While my New Year's resolution should probably be to lose 30 more lbs., I think I'll stick to something that may be achievable. I'm gonna try to blog more often. I know it's been a while since my last one, but I've tried to upload a few videos a few time b/w my last post and now, and it keeps failing. So, I thought, well screw the videos for now - sorry.

Not too many exciting new things to report. Dayton can now bite - hard. Very hard actually. He got me today pretty good and it's one of those things where your first reaction is to want to rare back and knock the crud out of him, but then you have to restrain yourself and slowly pry his teeth from your arm. Wow, does it hurt. He also is very into kissing right now. When you ask for kisses, he opens his very drooly mouth really wide and comes in for the kill. Unfortunetly, when he was kissing his daddy the other day, he chomped down in the middle of the kiss piercing Brandon's lip. Now, Brandon has a horrible fever blister which developed from the cut - ouch!

One of Dayton's newest things is that he has been putting himself to sleep sometimes. We put him in his bed and he moves around until he gets himself comfortable and then goes to sleep - what a big boy - sniffle, sniffle. You can tell when he's tired because we'll be playing on the living room floor and he'll just start laying down in the most random places. He'll lay on my leg, rest his head on the couch, or sometimes he'll even try to lay on Lucy - poor Lucy Girl - she takes a real lickin' b/c the laying on (smushing) is usually followed by some form of a kiss that results in a bite. She just takes it. Who would've ever thought it'd be the kid biting the dog and not the other way around?.?.?

I'm starting to plan Baby Date's first birthday and I think it'll be the weekend of his actual birthday but on that Saturday - March 8th. So, mark your calendars! It'll be quite the shindig!

That's all I know for now. I am going to try to do better. I just want it to be interesting for you guys -not "this is what color Dayton pooped today" or "this is what Dayton ate today", etc. Have a good week!
