Hot Mess…

The only words to describe Mallory’s hair these days.  Her hair is out of control.  I have been up in arms not knowing what to do with it.  Pigtails work, but only for a while; Still too short for a real ponytail; headbands don’t work; the only thing we’ve been able to do is slap a big bow right in the middle of the mess and hope it distracts from all of the craziness.

Today, Mommy took Mallory to see Mrs. Tina for her very first haircut.  She was surprisingly very well behaved – sat by herself and everything.  Dayton hated haircuts until last summer, so maybe it’s a girl thing – liking to get all beautified :)  Regardless, it was a successful little trim.  We are still trying to figure out how which directions it’s gonna grow and such, so Mrs. Tina gave Mallory a very similar haircut to Mommy’s :)  “long” in the front and “short” in the back – not as drastic, but still similar. She doesn’t have a mullet anymore so that’s a plus.

14 months old…

My how fast time has flown.  Our angel is 14 months old today.  I missed her 13 month update b/c it fell on Christmas Eve and we were busy, busy, busy.  I’ve decided not to do my “monthly” updates anymore – Let’s just face it, there isn’t much exciting going on right now.  All the major milestones are reached for a while.  So unless she starts speaking in full sentences or becomes potty trained over night, I’ll spare you the details.  I must say though that she is such a sponge – so smart for her age; she takes in all of her surroundings and you can see the wheels spinning when she takes the time to sit and ponder.  We love her to pieces and the only thing that drives me CRAZY these days is that she does not take good pictures.  She doesn’t smile on command and she is always on the move.  So I apologize for my photography – it’ll have to do!

Just a couple of pics from the weekend:

Here she is yesterday morning before church.  Got a quick chance to run into Doodle’s on Friday morning after a car appt in Houston, so we picked up this new little outfit – isn’t it fun???

A first haircut is in our very near future.  We’ve got to do something to contain this craziness.  I need an infant-friendly curling iron or it’s gonna drive Mommy insane – j/j, not really though…

I just want to say that I am sooooo excited to be saying congratulations to one of my favorite friends in the whole world – Best Wishes to Alicia and Neil who will be tying the knot.  We couldn’t be happier for you two and you guys are going to make an amazing husband and wife :)  CAN’T WAIT for the big day b/c I know it will be an awesome-good time!!!

And, while we’re at it – just wanted to give you an idea of what you’ll look like in a couple of years when you start having babies :)

Healthy Babies…

On Monday, I took both kiddos to get their flu vaccines.  Mallory still needed her second dose and since Dayton didn’t have school, I conned him into going too.  He didn’t want the mist in his nose at all (good thing b/c they didn’t have any anyways).  He just requested a shot – I think it was a case of morbid curiosity.  I bribed both of them by promising small toys after our visit.  They both cried for less then 10 seconds and we were off.  We loved our nurse this time – she was prepared w/ sticker and lollipop in hand.  It was great.  Here are some pics I took in the office w/ my iPhone.  They aren’t great, but it was a great way to keep them occupied…

MiSs MaLlOrY…

Random pictures – enjoy!

Mallory sampling Mommy’s costumes she got in.  Don’t worry!  This is cousin Anna’s – we wouldn’t try on someone’s unless it was Anna’s or Bryn’s – don’t want to risk this little mess ruining something! :)  She has layers of clothes on under this – hence the lumpiness…

Okay, we are within a month of V-Day, so let the V-Day clothes wearing begin ;)

Chuck E Cheese, Please!

We had intended to go to the Houston zoo at some point this weekend, but with the uncertainty of the weather, we decided to post-pone that trip for a later date and time.  We thought we’d have a nice, relaxing, stay-at-home day on Saturday, but we should always know better than that w/ me and Brandon.  I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again – Full Throttle.  That’s how we live our lives.  So, after being awake for about an hour on Saturday, it was time to come up w/ some kind of game plan to get us out of the house for the day.  We settled on Chuck E Cheese’s.  We hadn’t been there since last January when Mallory was only a few weeks old. All four of us had a great time – Brandon and I are kind of dorks when it comes to arcade games and such, so I think we secretly had as much fun as the other two.  Mallory loved all of the little ride on toy things – I was shocked.  Dayton loved any game that involved shooting or throwing balls.   After Chuck E Cheese’s we ate lunch at Lupe Tortilla (which was FABULOUS) and then shopped a little at Target, then hit up Starbucks and headed back to EC for a relaxing evening :)

Ready to play:

I was in charge of Mallory the whole time; therefore, more pictures of her than Date…

IMG_9776 IMG_9779 IMG_9780 IMG_9781 IMG_9782

This was hilarious – we put them on the monster truck together.  Mallory could’ve cared less; Dayton on the other hand got more afraid and more afraid as it got higher and higher and bumpier and bumpier –ha!

It was a fun day!

Today, we woke up, went to church, ate at MeMe’s and Grandpa’s, came home and took naps, went to the grocery store as a family (a blog post all it’s own – talk about circus!), came home and ate turkey sloppy joes w/ sweet potato fries, and now we’re playing wii.  Happy to have my family home with me tomorrow again for MLK day, but sad that I’ll be the only one that has to go to work :(

HoT cHoCoLaTe…

Friday night, we had a nice dinner out, then went and visited MeMe and Grandpa for a while, and then it was home for snuggling, pjs, and hot chocolate.  Here is Dayton enjoying the end of our fun-filled night.  While we are going a little stir crazy, we are really enjoying our indoor “family time” we’ve had due to the weather lately!

Lesson Learned…

Okay, so I learned my lesson – never trust a three year old ;)  So, yesterday I got a text from another pre-k 3 mom that asked if today was crazy hair day.  I asked Dayton and he says, “Oh yes!  Crazy hair day!  Gotta fix my hair crazy!”  I texted her back that yes indeed, Dayton says it’s crazy hair day.  I texted another mom just to make sure and her daughter, too, said Yes – it’s crazy hair day.  So what do I do?  I send my kid to school like this this morning:

IMG_9754 IMG_9755 IMG_9756

Dayton sported a mohawk today and Brandon texted me when he dropped him off to say, No – it was not crazy hair day afterall.  Not sure if any of the other 3’s showed up w/ crazy hair or not, but Dayton was too cool for school today – I’m sure his teachers think I’m off my rocker…

On another note, I guess Mallory has more zebra clothing than I thought, and I guess I think zebra=warmth, because that seems to be the only kind of clothes she’s been wearing lately – ha!  Here are some pics:

She is VERY into wearing beads all time, too.  Such a girl – I love it! :)

Bad hair – a little like a macaroni penguin, if you know what that is…

Playing w/ her tent this morning – more bad hair… IMG_9757 IMG_9758 IMG_9762 IMG_9763 IMG_9765 IMG_9766

Lastly, here is Mallory w/ her new Dora blanket that she conned me into buying her this morning.  She loves it and she was sleeping w/i about two minutes of laying her on, so let’s just keep hoping it keeps working that well :)

On a side note, remember in my previous post that I mentioned promising Mallory a Mommy/daughter shopping spree - I followed up on it yesterday! We had a blast shopping in Sugar Land - just me and Mally. It was soooo much fun and she was sooo good - I can't wait for many, many more trips like that. I loved it and wish I could do it every day - or atleast every other day! We came home with LOTS of good stuff ;)
