We’ve been bit – we have the itch!

Well, this past Saturday we had the great opportunity to attend a Sugar Land Skeeters game with my family.  All fifteen of us went – that’s eight adults and seven kiddos!  I must say it was a blast and we plan on going back a lot.  What a great evening of family fun!  Plenty for the kids to do, plenty to keeps the adults entertained and all revolving around baseball – how great is that.  There really couldn’t have been a better outing for my baseball-loving family.  I think it’s safe to say a good time was had by all and I totally recommend it to anyone looking for a good time!

We sat in the Picnic Plaza located down the third base baseline.  We had high top table and chairs and such – not stadium seating.  This worked out wonderfully for the kids bc they had room to move around.  Our tickets included food and soft drinks/water/tea.  What a great deal – we had bbq chicken, burgers, corn dogs, hot dogs, sides, cookies.  This was so great for the kids b/c they could eat as they pleased.  Tickets also included free carousel rides.  We brought bathing suits b/c they do have a pool and splash pad but had so much fun doing everything else, we never needed to utilize those things!  They had fun on their little playground, too!

Here is where we sat – see Brandon in the bright orange shirt – we took up quite the space – much more roomier than being cramped into seats ;)

We got to watch Anthony Collins throw out a first pitch :)  If you look up in the stands, on the suite level, that is all the Collins fam across the ballpark from us!

National Anthem – what a great photo op minus Mallory.  She was preoccupied with her new Skeeter which she takes everywhere now!

Mallory loved this Skeeter very much…

However, she was not at all fond of this Skeeter.  But, this is a good picture with all seven grandkids: IMG_8077

After the game, the kids had the opportunity to run the bases.  Uncle Coby and Brandon escorted them down on the field.  Bryn chose to hang back but here are the rest.  Mallory backed out last minute, too but atleast got to go on the field :)

They even got to take a picture with one of the players:

Counting our blessings…

With everything that’s been going on lately in our busy little lives, I failed to mention an important happening that occurred a few weeks back.  Brandon had gone to work extremely early in the morning due to a software update or something but then realized he had forgotten his iPad which he needed for his meeting in Louise.  This forced him to come home to grab it and take the back way to Louise from our house.  I got a phone call from him less then thirty minutes later and his first words were “I’m alright”.  I knew exactly what had happened – he’d been in a minor car accident.  On a curve right outside of Louise, he swerved to dodge an animal and lost complete control of his car.  He ended up in the middle of some crops after the car came to a stop.  God was with him – it didn’t flip or roll.  We are so thankful for that and his health. This proves that stuff like this can happen to anyone.  The week before he had is car up to almost 130 mph on a closed race track and now here he was avoiding an animal and his car had other plans.  His car is in bad shape.  Aesthetically, it didn’t look “that” bad, but there was lots of damage to the undercarriage.  So it’s been in the shop for weeks now and is still expected to take another two or three.  As you can imagine, he is missing it like crazy.  Driving his Dad’s Ford F250 is a far cry from his little race car :)  We are just so blessed that he was not hurt.

A Firecracker Poppin’ 4th!

Well, we started celebrating the 4th of July the weekend before at the bay.  The Cape had their parade Saturday morning.  We’d planned on coming down Friday – Sunday not sure what the actual “4th” would hold for us, but being that we brought enough food/clothes to feed/cloth an army and the weather was nasty during the weekend, we decided to stay through Wednesday.  Brandon commuted back and forth to EC on Monday and Tuesday for work and me and the kids enjoyed some R n’ R at the bay.  It was great!

Okay, so these first few are from the weekend before at the bay (the weekend of the pontoon) but I wanted to go ahead a share.  We spent that weekend with Clint, Megan, Samantha, and DeDe and PaPa down there.  It was a lot of fun.  Here we are at the pool!

We packed up the afternoon of the 4th and headed home.  We did our own fireworks at our house :)

Our neighbors did some great ones, too and they looked so neat over the top of our house:

My daily work out was a bike ride hauling around these two lugs!  Check out Mommy’s new bike.  I only got a new one because a pedal off the old one fell off mid-bike ride that day.  We were stranded on the complete opposite end of the Cape, of course.  Come to find out, the pedal was stripped and wouldn’t reattach so I had to pedal my happy butt pulling this thing all the way back to the bayhouse with one pedal.  Now that was quite a work out.  Of course this kind of stuff happens when I’m down there by myself.  Daddy felt so bad, he showed up with the brand new bike that evening :)
